Hebrew is the language of the children of Israel. The Hebrew spoken today is
derived from ancient Hebrew which is what the Old Testament was originally
written in. One word in Hebrew may have several meanings; dependant upon
in what context the word is used in - the same was true in Biblical times. Jesus
spoke a language called Aramaic and the New Testament was penned mostly
in Greek, later translated into Latin. Below are the letters of the Hebrew
alphabet (Alef Bet), their phonetic pronunciations and corresponding
numerical values (not the way you would count to do math). Hebrew when
written is read from right to left. *Some letters, called "sofit", have a different
sound and written notation at the end of a word.
